Tips for Protecting and Repairing your Chromebooks

[smart_track_player url=”http://traffic.libsyn.com/chrmbook/chromebookclassroom.s1.e3.mp3″ ]

How do you protect and repair your Chromebook? My interview with Eric Griffith from Mechanicsburg schools in Ohio discusses key strategies for ensuring that your Chromebooks withstand the stress of the school environment. We also discuss the merits of on-site Chromebook repair.

In this episode:

  • Why you should smash some Chromebooks.
  • Finding the right case for your Chromebook
  • How to developing a culture of ownership
  • Is on-site Chromebook repair a good solution?
  • What are the most common Chromebook repairs?

The Tool that Does it All!

“Find a tool that can do it all.” Eric discusses how the versatility and cost of Chromebooks allowed his district to double the amount of technology available to students.  Chromebooks also provided many new instructional options for staff.

Protecting your Chromebooks

Eric enjoys smashing Chromebooks. All in the name of science! Hear Eric share how the Mechanicsburg 1:1 program provides a sustainable and affordable device purchasing cycle. We also discuss the durability of Chromebooks, selecting a case for your Chromebooks, and the merits of insurance programs.

Developing a Culture of Ownership

Mechanicsburg Schools has developed a three-fold approach to developing a culture of ownership for both parents and students. This has resulted in an amazingly low damage rate for district technology and minimizing Chromebook repair.

Chromebook Repair

Eric does a great job documenting all aspects of his 1:1 Chromebook program. After initially sending Chromebooks off-site for repair, Eric was able to estimate that repairing Chromebooks on-site would result in a time and financial savings for the district. Listen to him explain this decision and the details of their on-site repair process.
