This year I have been doing a lot of reading and thinking about the impact AI will have on education and society. In an effort to educate myself on this topic, I have been consuming a wide-variety of books, articles, and interviews on the topic of AI.
The items listed below are some of my favorite resources on the topic of AI. I have only included items that I have found helpful, well reasoned, and useful. There is a lot of mediocre content that didn’t make the cut!
I do not necessarily endorse or agree with all of the opinions and ideas expressed below, but they have helped develop my thinking on this subject. If you have suggestions for additional books, podcasts, articles, etc, please let me know by leaving a comment!
Books
- The AI Educator by Daniel Fitzpatrick – I was skeptical of this book which was published incredibly quickly after the launch of ChatGPT, but it includes some helpful resources and ideas.
- The Singularity Series by William Hertling – This fiction series follows the introduction of an AI program designed to write email and the chaos that follows. Written in 2012, this series is starting to feel a little bit like real life!
Podcast Episodes:

- Elon Musk on the Joe Rogan Podcast – Elon Musk is an outspoken critic of artificial intelligence, going as far as saying AI is more dangerous than nuclear weapons. During this conversation with Joe Rogan they discuss the need for regulatory oversight of AI development.
- Dan Fitzpatrick on the Teach Middle East Podcast – Dan Fitpatrick is known as the AI educator, but he has a surprisingly balanced perspective on AI. I found this to be a nice intro discussion on AI without hysteria or hype.
- The Miseducation of Google’s AI – this podcast from The Daily chronicles the circumstances that caused Google Gemini to produce biased results. This is a good overview of how large language models are trained and developed.
