As part of my daily routine, I scan dozens of blogs, visit a handful of Facebook groups, and skim through Twitter.
The goal: find the most helpful resources, tools, and articles that I can share with my teacher friends (that’s you!). Here are my favorite links for May 2026!

May Google EDU Update

Google AI Educator Series – short, bite-sized PD that you can complete in 15 minutes or less. There are two tracks, one for K-12 and another for higher education. The first 20 sessions are available with more dropping this fall. This video is a good place to start. Take a short assessment after each module to earn a badge!
Trying to keep up with the latest AI updates for your favorite Google products? Join me for the Google Certification Academy + Gemini to explore the latest AI enhancements to Google classroom, Docs, Slides, and more! Virtual cohorts begin in June and July!
Auto-updating files in NotebookLM – this is a simple, but BIG update. NotebookLM will now automatically update anytime a document, presentation, or spreadsheet is edited. No need to re-upload files!

Convert your slide presentation to Video with Avatars – When you convert a slide presentation to Google Vids you have the option to include an AI Avatar who will read your auto generated script. Using this feature requires EDU Plus or the AI Pro add-on.
Skills for Chrome – A “skill” is a repeatable task that you use on a regular basis such as summarizing a web page or re-leveling a text. This feature is available to all users, but is rolling out slowly. If you don’t have it, be patient!
Introducing “Googlebook” – After years of speculation, we have a bit more clarity on the next generation of Chromebooks. ChromeOS isn’t going anywhere, but there are some major updates and new features on the horizon (like desktop icons and tighter Gemini integration) with this latest update. ChromeUnboxed is my go-to source for the latest updates on Google hardware.
Wrapping up the school year – Before you shut your classroom door for the last time, here are five suggestions to clear out the clutter so you can have a relaxing summer and be ready for the new year…when it starts.

Google I/O 2026 Updates
Google I/O is an annual developer conference that typically features a lot of technical updates related to Android and web development. This year Google made more than 100 announcements. Here are three updates that will impact K-12 education and one…just because!
- Google Docs Live – brain dump your thoughts using voice and Google Docs will clean up and organize your thoughts. Perfect for summarizing meetings or parent conferences. Rolling out to AI Pro customers this summer with expanded access expected later in the year.
- Gemini Sparks – this is what Google is calling agents – little robots that can perform tasks based on your instructions. Sparks will show up in Gemini later this year. Right now they are only available for trusted testers.
- Gemini for Science – this one is interesting. Google has created several special AI tools to help scientists form hypotheses, review research, and analyze data. If you want to know what the future of scientific research looks like, here’s a good place to start!
- Google Glass is back (kinda) – Google is preparing to launch a line of Gemini-powered glasses, similar to what Facebook launched last year. No word on pricing or timeline.
